The war in Ukraine entered its 24th day on Saturday March 19. While more than three million people have already fled the country, civilians who remain are increasingly targeted.
In the western suburbs of kyiv (Ukraine), buildings are cut in half on Saturday March 19. Olena’s apartment was bombed three days ago. In the middle of her devastated living room, she only finds a fragment of missile and a photo of her daughter. “My daughter and her husband had just gotten married. We’ll get through this, but it’s tough, very tough. The Russians are supposed to be our closest allies, we never thought they could do this.”she says.
The scenes of desolation are multiplying in the capital. 20 km north of kyiv, a family of six had taken refuge inside a house, now destroyed. A two-year-old child died. 109 children have been killed since the start of the war on February 24. To symbolize the drama, 109 empty strollers were put down in Lviv (Ukraine), Friday March 18. During the night, Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, again called on Russia for dialogue.
