civilians captured by the Russians

On the 64th day of the war in Ukraine, we learn that in the kyiv region, civilians were allegedly detained in an industrial site. Some were even then taken to Russia to serve as bargaining chips. A man, who has been released, is contacting the families of his former fellow prisoners today to give them news.

“They took us like goods that can be exchanged later, like a cell phone”, explains Volodymyr Choprun, a former prisoner in Russia. He estimates that nearly 200 Ukrainians were taken prisoner like him. He now hopes that everyone will be able to return home to ease the suffering of their families.
