Valérie Plante renewed her promise on Wednesday morning to limit the municipal tax increase to 2% for next year.
At the executive committee table, the mayor noted that inflation was particularly high these months, but promised to keep her campaign promise anyway.
“The tax increase will be limited to 2%,” she said. “We want to do our part to help those for whom it is tighter and to leave as much money as possible in the pockets of Montrealers.”
“Our budget will be aligned with this reality,” said Mme Plant.
It is on December 22, with the presentation of the budget, that the taxpayers of the metropolis will know the precise amount of the increase in property taxes that awaits them. The document will then be studied by elected officials with a view to adoption on January 21, 2022.
