(New York) Former US President Bill Clinton will release a memoir this fall about the years since he left office in 2001.
Citizen: My Life After the White House will cover a range of topics, from his wife Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaigns to his views on events from the storming of the United States Capitol to the war in Iraq.
The Alfred A. Knopf publishing house, which published Mr. Clinton’s presidential memoirs, My Lifewhich has sold millions of copies, will release the new book on November 19.
“ Citizen is the story of the 23-plus years since I left the White House, told largely through the stories of other people who changed my life as I tried to help change theirs, of those who supported me, including those I loved and lost, and of the mistakes I made along the way,” Mr. Clinton said in a statement Thursday.
The publisher calls the book “remarkably candid and richly detailed,” offering “a fascinating insight into Mr. Clinton’s life – both personal and political.”
Over the past two decades, Mr. Clinton has worked on numerous charitable causes, including AIDS treatment and aid to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.
Besides My Lifehis books include, among others, two bestselling thrillers co-written by James Patterson: The President Is Missing And The President’s Daughter.
Mr. Clinton has also been embroiled in various controversies, including questions about funding Haiti’s reconstruction efforts and his association with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein (Mr. Clinton, who flew several times on Haiti’s private jet). Epstein, denied any knowledge that Epstein was involved in sex trafficking).
In 2018, the #metoo movement reignited discussions about Mr. Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky, then a White House intern.
A spokesperson for the publishing house declined to say whether Mr. Clinton would write about Epstein or other controversies.
The financial conditions of Citizen have not been disclosed.
