The American, one of the first big names to have joined this dissident league, to the chagrin of the North American PGA, thus had the last word on two newcomers, who made the same decision as him, the Chilean Joaquin Niemann and Indian Anirban Lahiri.
This trio had finished with a card of -15 at the end of the three rounds of the test.
The world No. 2, Australian Cameron Smith, winner of the UK Open this summer and who has also just joined the LIV, finished one shot in 4e place, shared with Briton Lee Westwood.
Dustin Johnson, who finished 8e in London, 4e in Portland and 3e in Bedminster, became the first American to win a LIV tournament, cashing a check for $4 million for the trouble.
