The 7th installment in the “Mission Impossible” saga will be released on screens on Wednesday July 12. This time, Tom Cruise is tasked with defending humanity against a formidable weapon. At 61, the actor still performs his stunts himself, without an understudy.
Tom Cruise is back in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1. In this new opus, the secret agent’s team fights against an artificial intelligence, which the hero will have to neutralize before it destroys humanity. The stunts are always more spectacular, and Tom Cruise, as usual, wants to do them himself.
Always the same formula
“With Tom, there are no limits. What’s great about working with him is that you have to surpass yourself”, comments director Christopher McQuarrie. The first six films generated 3.5 billionfrom revenue dollars. More than 25 years after the first film, the saga has never changed formula. “The countdown, the fact that you have to stop something, give everything for a collective object, it’s something very addictive for the viewer”, observes Gauthier Jurgensen, film journalist for Satellifacts.
