From cinema outings of the week, there is the movie “Maria dream”. It tells the story of a reserved and awkward maintenance worker, played by Karin Viard, whose life changes thanks to an encounter.
What if joining the battalion of cleaners at the École des Beaux-Arts had the power to change a life? In this place of creation, Maria – a shy, dedicated and complexed woman – will let herself be won over by a wind of freedom. “He is someone who does not know himself, who does not know his audacity. Thanks to the students, Maria detaches herself from the prejudices of her condition and she allows herself to love Hubert, the surly and whimsical school guardian. maria dream is therefore a romantic comedy about the emancipation of women who have arrived to the half of their life. “We chose a 50-year-old female character because women, over 50, are much less represented on screen”Explain yvo Muller, co-writer and co-director.
What Lauriane adds Escaffre, co-writer and co-director : “It’s absurd, it’s amazing. It’s precisely a period when women, in our opinion, are in full possession of all their power.” The film, full of tenderness and poetry, is dedicated to all the invisible ones who yearn to fulfill their dreams.
