The film “Ouistreham” hits theaters tomorrow, January 12th. The story is adapted from a book about the difficult daily life of a cleaning lady who works on ferries. The actresses, housekeepers, have embodied their characters. Meet these extraordinary women.

What better way to interpret housekeepers than real housekeepers? This is the case with the film Ouistreham which hits theaters tomorrow, January 12th. For more authenticity, the director has adapted the scenario to the personalities of these women, recruited via an interim agency. “I think, honestly, he wouldn’t have listened to our opinion on the script, the film wouldn’t have been so good, so true”, says Hélène Lambert alias Christèle in the film.

The film is an adaptation of Florence Aubenas’ book, Le quai de Ouistreham. To write it, the journalist was hired under a false identity by a ferry company. In Ouistreham, Florence is embodied by Juliette Binoche. Today, one of the actresses is still a cleaning lady, but in a company with less arduous hours. “Now we have a face, a smile, a physique and that is the greatest reward”, rejoices Patricia Prieur. Almost two years after the filming of the film, only Patricia has a job. The others are now looking for a job, far from the world of maintenance.
