“The family has the immense sadness to inform you of the disappearance of the filmmaker Jacques Perrin, who died on Thursday April 21 in Paris. He passed away peacefully at the age of 80”announced his family in a statement sent to AFP by his son, Mathieu Simonet.
“I admired Jacques Perrin, and then I had the chance to shoot him, his talent, his availability, his kindness meant that after the shooting I admired him even more”wrote on Twitter the director Xavier Beauvois, who had directed him in the little lieutenant (2005).

“Jacques was pure charm. He succeeded in everything he touched”reacted, also on Twitter, the former president of the Cannes Film Festival, Gilles Jacob.
“He is one of the most subtle and interesting French producers”said Costa-Gavras on franceinfo, saluting the memory “of a man of great curiosity and also of extreme kindness”.
The death of Jacques Perrin also aroused tributes in the military world, particularly in connection with his roles as a soldier at Schoendoerffer.
“The 317th section has lost its leader. The armies salute the memory of Jacques Perrin, an emblematic figure of French cinema to whom we were intimately linked”, tweeted the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Thierry Burkhard.
The Foreign Legion, for its part, hailed “a great name in cinema, a personality of great humility“. “He recently made a film about the Foreign Legion: The Last Men”, tweeted the Legion on its official account.
