CIBC makes senior management changes

(Toronto) CIBC is making changes to its senior leadership team, a move that president and CEO Victor Dodig says will expand opportunities for a number of the bank’s leaders.


The bank announced that Jon Hountalas, senior executive vice-president and group head of Canadian banking, will assume the role of vice-president of North American banking, covering retail banking, commercial banking and wealth management under changes effective March 1.er november.

CIBC also announced that Susan Rimmer will be promoted to Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Head of Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. She is currently Managing Director and Head of Global Corporate and Investment Banking.

Harry Culham will become Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Head of Capital Markets, Global Asset Management and Corporate Strategy, taking on expanded responsibilities for CIBC Global Asset Management in addition to his current responsibilities.

Christian Exshaw will be named co-head of CIBC Capital Markets, gaining additional responsibilities for corporate and investment banking.

Hratch Panossian, Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Head, Personal and Small Business Banking, will be responsible for Simplii Financial, while Shawn Beber, Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Head, U.S. Region, and President and CEO, CIBC Bank USA, will be responsible for CIBC Cleary Gull, CIBC’s mid-market investment firm.
