CIBC appoints Mark Podlasly to its board of directors

(Toronto) CIBC announced Tuesday the appointment of Mark Podlasly to its board of directors effective 1er november.


Mr. Podlasly is the head of sustainable development at the First Nations Major Projects Coalition, a national collective of 144 First Nations seeking ownership of major energy projects.

He is also president of the First Nations Limited Partnership, which brings together 16 First Nations under a $500 million commercial agreement with the Kitimat liquefied natural gas project.

CIBC Board Chair Kate Stevenson said Podlasly brings deep expertise in sustainability, economic development for Indigenous communities and the development of major investment projects related to energy, natural resources and community infrastructure.

Additionally, Mr. Podlasly is a member of the Board of Directors of Hydro One, a member of the Canadian National Railway Company’s Indigenous Advisory Council and a director of the Nlaka’pamux Nation Legacy Trust.

He holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Trinity Western University.

Mr. Podlasly’s appointment brings the number of directors on the CIBC board to 14 members.
