Data transmitted by the Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) of the Laurentians reveal that 56 residents out of the 153 housed in the establishment had pressure sores, scratching lesions and redness.

A family interviewed by TVA Nouvelles criticizes the CHSLD for poor quality care of their mother.

In an interview, a citizen who prefers to remain anonymous said she is convinced that her 85-year-old mother, who has vascular dementia, was the victim of abuse during her stay there in 2020.

“At first we thought she was to be well […]. She got out of there and she weighed 98 pounds,” she lamented.

Photos provided by the family show bruising on his arm believed to be the result of a fall.

She would also have been given medication from another patient, which would have destabilized her.

“She fell because of the medication,” her daughter explained.

The family says they filed a formal complaint, following which their mother was relocated to another facility.

The CISSS takes matters into its own hands

Since the guardianship, the CISSS indicates that it has acted quickly by caring for the residents, by training the staff on well-treatment and mistreatment as well as by meeting the families.

“I am very satisfied with the results that we have achieved with the new team in place,” said the external consultant who acts as authorized representative in the provisional administration of the CHSLD Le Boisé Sainte-Thérèse, Jean-François Foisy. There were meetings and all the patients were re-examined.”

He also assured that local management with CISSS managers has been put in place.
