Three days after his victory over Ghent-Wevelgem, the Frenchman from the Jumbo-Visma team won the race “Through Flanders” linking Roeselare to Waregem, Wednesday March 29. At the end of a course of 183.7 km, punctuated by 11 mountains and eight cobbled sections, the runner from the Dutch team made the difference five kilometers from the finish. He imposes himself alone in front Oier Lazkano and Neilson Powless and succeeds Mathieu van der Poel on the list.

The Belgian Tiesj Benoot “was really very strong on the climbs, he was the one who made the selection on the bumps. Afterwards, it worked well in the group and I knew how to seize my chance”, explained Laporte who can foresee the Tour of Flanders with ambition, even if he will have to put himself at the service of Wout Van Aert.

“The two best races are coming now (the Ronde and Paris-Roubaix on April 9). We’re going to try to stay the course, it won’t be easy. There are three men who are above the rest, Mathieu van der Poel, Wout and Tadej Pogacar. We will have to seize the opportunities to try to support them”, concluded the Frenchman.
