Christmas Playlist | Your holiday tunes

Following an appeal to all, we are placing in your woolen stocking this assembly of songs that some of our readers like to play on a loop under the Christmas tree.

“The one that has thrilled me since its release is Damien Robitaille’s CD. Begining with Soon it will be Christmas and You enrapture mewithout forgetting The parade, which put us in a beautiful festive atmosphere. But when comes Christmas Anyway, I can’t help having it replayed five or six times. This song, which speaks of loneliness in times of rejoicing, soothes me and makes me nostalgic. I like this softness and this slowness in the music. In addition, his voice lends itself very well to this rhythm, he who has accustomed us to more festive. »

” The song All alone for Christmas by Klô Pelgag, launched in 2019, finds great resonance in me as the festive season approaches: the haunting voice and melancholy piano of the singer-songwriter wonderfully express a sadness that otherwise appears in full discrepancy with the ambient gaiety. (She performed it beautifully at the Martha and Rufus Wainwright Christmas Concert, which took place [le 3 décembre] at the Church of Saint John the Baptist. All the songs from this show would deserve to be on your charts, if only they had been recorded.)”

Our igloo de LARCHE, released a few weeks ago and heard in Free songs to Monique on HERE Music. I’ve been listening to it over and over since, it’s just too beautiful! »

“I had the pain of losing the youngest of my two daughters ten years ago. She loved the Holidays, their traditions, their rituals. It was a blessed time. The reconciliation with this time of year came in 2015 when my wife introduced me to the songs of Maryse Letarte. Instant love at first sight. The music of this artist constitutes for me a therapy by the emotion. The Scrapbook footsteps in the snow is a marvel. My favorite : Between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Each year, the same wonder, the same feelings, between nostalgia and enchantment. Thanks to Maryse Letarte, my eyes are wet but my heart is warm. I can’t thank her enough for creating this masterpiece. »

“My obsession with song O come, O come Emmanuel from Handsome & Gretyl is hard to explain, but I can’t stop listening to it. I think it’s the originality of the arrangements, in addition to their beautifully arranged voices (they are a real couple). In short, I am transported somewhere in Ireland to the misty steppe of this country that I would love to visit (I have a kick for redheads). »

Caroline Pie

“Each year, I never get tired of Let Me Sleep (It’s Christmas Time) by Pearl Jam. A man recounts his happy memories of Christmas. How magic it seemed. The naivety of youth to think only of playing and having fun. Carefree under the tree. With a good vocal performance by Eddie Vedder. »

Eric Tremblay

Driving Home for Christmas with Jonathan Roy and Corey Hart. I like Jonathan’s raspy voice as well as Corey’s which make it a wonderful and tender Christmas song. I never tire of listening to it. She takes me by the guts. »

Ginette Dion

“More than a song, it’s the whole album A Very Chilly Christmas by Chilly Gonzalez that I have been listening to on repeat since its release in 2020 when I was pregnant. This magnificent album reminds me of wonderful and sweet memories. »

Sarah Laporte

“I love the song of Elliot Maginot The Ballad of Mrs. claus and I listen to it at maximum power when my boyfriend leave the house. The musical arrangements and the lyrics make me come back to it very often… even when it’s not Christmas anymore. »

Suzanne Marion

“My favorite Christmas song playing on repeat? It’s snowing in NDG by Paul Cargnello, played by Sarah MK. Because from the first notes, I am bewitched by the soothing rhythm of the melody. Because it plunges me instantly into the heart of a gentle snowfall, the kind that pours down at the speed of feathers and that we like to receive in the face while raising our eyes to the sky. »

Ghislaine Renaud

“My favorite Christmas song is virtually unknown, here at least. It is When the Thames Froze from Smith & Burrows. It’s a very beautiful song by the lead singer of Editors and it’s full of melancholy and hope too…”
