Christmas message | Justin Trudeau asks Canadians to find strength in their differences

(Ottawa) Federal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wants Canadians to “draw strength from [leurs] differences”.

In his traditional Christmas message, Mr. Trudeau urges Canadians to “love your neighbors as yourself.” He prays them to give back to others and help those who are going through difficult times.

“Let’s share the warmth of the holidays with people who are alone this year. This is the true spirit of Christmas, and also the true spirit of Canada,” he says.

He adds that while Christmas is a religious holiday for Christians around the world, the values of “compassion, kindness and hope” that the birth of Jesus represents are universal.

The federal Prime Minister also thanked “the courageous members of the Canadian Armed Forces, [les] first responders who work night and day to keep us safe and [les] volunteers who give their time so that others can experience the joy and light of Christmas.”

According to him, they embody “the eternal message and the timeless truth that there is more happiness in giving than in receiving”.

Mr. Trudeau also asked Canadians to keep the holiday spirit throughout the new year. “Let’s find ways to make our communities, our country and our world a better place in 2024,” he said.
