Christmas holidays | Good family plans

The Christmas holidays are approaching and you are looking for ideas for cultural outings to do with the family? The arts team has some suggestions for you.

Poetry and comfort at TOHU

Poetry and comfort come to TOHU this holiday season with the presentation of the magnificent Air Play family show. Here two soft-hearted clowns, interpreted by New Yorkers Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone of the Acrobuffos company, take advantage of the power of the air to paint pictures of great beauty, which stick to the retina for a long time. In the age of screens at all times, these two even manage to amaze children with a simple balloon or a piece of fabric. A soul-warming show for ages 5 and up. At TOHU until 1er January.

Illumi is back in Laval until January 29

The Illumi illuminated trail is back for a fourth year with no less than 19 colorful paintings to discover on foot or by car. In total, some 25 million LED bulbs were used to create sparkling decorations that evoke Christmas, but not only. There are dinosaurs, hot air balloons, bats, forest animals, pirates and galloping horses on the three-kilometre long course, i.e. thousands of structures, each one brighter than the other. Note to regulars: five new tables have been added. Until January 29.

Nicolas Noël – The crystal of time

Gregg Productions, behind the shows of Arthur L’Aventurier, offers a stage adaptation of the musical film Nicolas Noël, The Crystal of Time. In this screenplay by Daniel Blondin, Santa Claus has to call on his master friend Chronos, because the weather seems to be out of order. With the help of the elves Trémaline and Pamalin – who will leave the kingdom of Fééria – he will try to find the magic stones of the crystal of time to save the Christmas party. Nothing less.

The show is presented on December 22 at Salle André-Mathieu (Laval), December 23 at L’Étoile (Brossard) and December 27 and 30 at Duceppe (Montreal).

Show corteo Cirque du Soleil at the Bell Center

Cirque du Soleil is performing for the second time in five years this acrobatic piece created in Montreal in 2005 by the Swiss-Italian director Daniele Finzi Pasca. A show that takes us back to a world of fairgrounds, led by eight clowns and musicians. In addition to these soul healers, there are of course high-flying acrobats, who perform – as always – their numbers to perfection. Whether on the jumping board, on the straps, on the ladder or hung on a chandelier, we witness, in Corteo (cortege in Italian) the last lap of the clown Mauro before his death.

The show is presented at the Bell Center from December 21 to 1er January 2023.

The McCord-Stewart Museum has repatriated the famous mechanical Christmas display cases from the Ogilvy store. The mill in the forest and The enchanted village, which we have been able to appreciate for nearly 70 years while strolling down Sainte-Catherine Street, have been recreated at the museum for the holiday season (until January 8). In addition to the showcases, families can visit four exhibits at the McCord-Stewart (including Disraeli revisited), offer used toys, discover Christmas recipes dating from the 18e at 21e century or participate in creative workshops for toddlers.

An embroidery workshop will take place on January 4 and 5.

On vacation, your children don’t know what to do with their ten fingers? The Musée des métiers d’art du Québec (MUMAQ) has activities to offer them. From December 28 to 30 and January 3, families are invited to do a Christmas craft. On January 4 and 5, while children can participate in a fun activity led by a cultural mediator, parents are invited to an embroidery workshop. Participants can bring pieces of clothing to decorate them. During the holidays, the Montreal museum also organizes guided tours.

At the movie theater : Ernest and Celestine – The trip to Charabie

Ernest and Célestine are making their return to the big screen, ten years after winning top honors at the Césars, by winning the prize for best animated film. For journalist Danielle Bonneau, “the film, imbued with sweetness despite the many twists and turns, suits the style of pastel and watercolor drawings, inspired by the books of Gabrielle Vincent. »
