For 17 years, Richard has been from Périgord, but he came with his childhood memories from Quebec, to the heart of a large family.
First great tradition, on Christmas Eve, children go to bed until 11 p.m., then be awakened, prepared, for the traditional and spectacular midnight mass. It is after returning from midnight mass that the children open the gifts that are under the large Canadian tree.
“We pay for the trafficking”
It is an expression to say that we are going to feast, we are going to have fun! With why not a pie, a “tourtière” or a “cipaille” with beef, pork, game … with many accompaniments. The idea of this pie is obviously sharing. With this cipaille, or a stuffed turkey, the cranberry sauce is welcome!
For dessert, the Yule log will also be found on the table, or desserts with particularly Canadian flavors: blueberries or of course, maple syrup!
