End of suspense on the left. Christiane Taubira came first in the Popular Primary, Sunday, January 30, with a “much more mention”. She is thus ahead of Yannick Jadot (2nd, with a “fairly good mention more”), Jean-Luc Mélenchon (3rd, “fairly good mention less”), Pierre Larrouturou (4th, “passable plus mention”), Anne Hidalgo (5th, “passable plus mention”) and Charlotte Marchandise (6th, “passable minus mention”) and Anna Agueb-Porterie (7th, “insufficient mention”).

The vote took place by majority judgment. Voters had to rank the candidates with the following ratings: “Very good”, “Good”, “Fairly good”, “Passable”, “Insufficient”. Christiane Taubiragot more upvotes and fewer downvotes than other voters”explained the organizers of the online vote.

This citizens’ initiative aimed to designate a champion capable of bringing together the entire left to fight for the presidential election and push the door to the second round. But the popular Primary suffered to see three of its candidates – the socialist Anne Hidalgo, the ecologist Yannick Jadot and the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon, of France insoumise – refuse to recognize the legitimacy and the result of the vote.

When the votes closed on Sunday at 5 p.m., 392,738 voters had been registered out of the 467,000 registered, according to the organizers. That is a participation rate of 84.1%.
