Tuesday, June 21, Christian Jacob was received at the Élysée by Emmanuel Macron. When he left, the President of the Republicans repeated that he did not want an alliance with the presidential majority. LR activists are more divided on the issue.

The negotiations continue after the earthquake of the legislative elections. Emmanuel Macron is looking for solutions to be able to govern now that he no longer has an absolute majority in the Assembly. Things are accelerating, since he meets all the opposition party leaders on Tuesday, June 21. Christian Jacob, the president of the Republicans, has already said that he refuses an alliance. At La Garenne-Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine), stronghold of the right, the question of an alliance of LR with the presidential party is debated.

“We are not in the opposition, as far as I am concerned. We are working, we think that the LRs will vote for the texts that seem good to them”, says an activist. Other voters go further loin: he the right and the macronie must, according to them, work hand in hand. “Today the important thing is France. We need to be governed, we need to move forward, we need reforms”explains another activist.
