The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi was re-elected, Friday July 19, president of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis with 81.6% of the vote, France Bleu Azur learned. Christian Estrosi had resigned on July 10 following the result of the early legislative elections and in particular the election of his local political opponent. Eric Ciotti was elected deputy of the 1st constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes after having allied himself with the National Rally.

The metropolitan elected officials chose to re-elect Christian Estrosi as president of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis. The mayor of Nice obtained 93 votes. Christophe Trojani, the mayor of Villefranche-sur-Mer, the only other candidate, only collected 21 ballots out of 120. There were six blank votes.

When the results were announced, Christian Estrosi told the elected officials: “The results of this morning’s vote are clear. The clarification that I wanted when I presented my resignation to you has indeed taken place. By voting so widely for my candidacy, you have clearly expressed your will. Neither Le Penist nor Mélenchonist in this executive.”

Christophe Trojani congratulated his opponent with these words: “There is a large majority for Christian Estrosi since he got 93 votes, so my congratulations to him.” An “unworthy and grotesque” election reacted Eric Ciotti who believes that “In Nice as in Paris, the defeated Macronie ignores the popular vote and distributes the posts and places!”
