Christian Estrosi’s reaction was quick. “I expect Youcef Atal, if he allowed himself to be exploited, to apologize and denounce the Hamas terrorists”writes in a message published on X (formerly Twitter) the mayor of Nice.

In a story (ephemeral publication) on the social network Instagram, OGC Nice right-back Youcef Atal relayed a video of preacher Sheikh Mahmoud al-Hasanat who declared: “May God send a dark day for the Jews”, reports this Sunday France Bleu Azur. The mayor of Nice believes that this player “would no longer have its place” in the Nice football club, if he did not apologize. The elected official asks the leagues and federations “to be particularly attentive and severe in the face of comments and behavior that go against the values of the Republic”.

France Bleu Azur also indicates that Stéphane Le Rudulier, LR senator for Bouches-du-Rhône, called in a press release for the exclusion of Youcef Atal and his prosecution for advocating terrorism after he shared a call for the murder of Jews.
