Seven months after suffering a heart attack at the Euro, Christian Eriksen is back. In any case, this is what Brentford coach Thomas Frank hopes on Thursday, February 3. “Christian has a solid physical base and has done all kinds of tests,” he explained.
The 29-year-old player has not stepped on the pitch since his heart attack and expected to train with his new teammates for the first time on Monday. The Dane signed at the beginning of the week for six months with the Brentford club which faces Everton in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
“He’s been running a lot, training a lot, so he’s done quite a lot in the last few months, his base is good, but it’s another thing to adapt to the rhythm of a game. It’s hard to say when it will really be available. I will know a lot more after Monday”, said Thomas Frank.

Eriksen was released by Inter Milan in December because Italian medical regulations do not allow players with automatic subcutaneous defibrillators to play in Serie A. He thus makes his return to the Premier League, after playing six and a half seasons at Tottenham between 2013 and 2020.
For the Danish manager of Brentford, currently 14th in the Premier League, the former Tottenham star is potentially the “biggest signing” of the club, and his return to the field will inevitably be a moment charged with emotions. “I think the day Christian steps onto the pitch again will be an incredible day,” concluded Thomas Frank.
