Comedian Chris Pratt adds another famous animated character to whom he will lend his voice: the very orange cat Garfield created in 1978 by Jim Davis.
Chris Pratt (Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy), it was announced Monday, will therefore embody the most famous cat in the world for his aversion to Mondays, his incarnate laziness and his unconditional love for lasagna.
The project is a collaboration between production house Alcon Entertainment and distributor Sony Pictures, which has worldwide rights excluding China.
The production of the film was entrusted to Mark Dindal (Chicken Little). The screenplay will be written by David Reynolds (Finding Nemo). Creator Jim Davis will join in as executive producer.
The news, first announced by the specialized site The Hollywood Reporter, does not give further details about the rest of the cast.
Chris Pratt, let’s remember, has a good track record in animated film. He is among others the voice of Barley Lightfoot in Onward (Forward), Emmet Brickowski in The Lego Movie and will soon be Mario in an upcoming Super Mario animated film in 2022.
This latest project, currently in production, will also feature Anya Taylor-Joy (voice of Princess Peach), Charlie Day (voice of Luigi), Seth Rogen (Donkey Kong) and several others.
