A few days after criticizing the absence of Jonathan Drouin from the formation of the Montreal Canadiens, Chris Nilan retracted and apologized on Monday.
The former Habs strongman, now 64, posted a video Saturday criticizing Jonathan Drouin’s decision not to play due to a wrist injury.
His name was placed on the injured list on Friday, and on Sunday, the TVA Sports channel reported that his season was potentially over and that he will likely have to undergo surgery. He must also obtain a second medical opinion on the subject.
“My God. Jonathan Drouin will not play tonight. Let’s see! My God! Poor Jonathan! What’s wrong this time, Jonathan? My God. Watch the game! It’s much safer to watch it from home,” Nilan said on social media on Saturday.
However, he has since deleted this sequence to replace it with another.
“Jonathan Drouin, I’m talking to you because I want to apologize, he says right off the bat. Listen, I’ve made many mistakes in my life, and I know I made one. Saturday. I made a video about you that was callous, cruel, and it was wrong. I can only imagine how that made you feel. I know that personally I felt bad when I saw her again. Once again, my deepest apologies, and I can guarantee that this will never happen again.”
Drouin has six goals and 20 points in 34 games this season.
