The choir is again trendy in France. Today, there are 65,000 in the country. They even develop in companies or in bars.

During their lunch break, some play sports or take a nap. Elise Mignard will sing. In the Parisian law firm where she works, a choir meets every Monday. “When I leave my office, I leave my files aside, I take my scores to start the week off right. We have a job that is still demanding (…), and that’s the break”confides the lawyer in insurance law.

A participative choir in a bar

Giving voice is also a French passion. The country has more than 65,000 choirs, and this is not new. But the “little singers with wooden crosses and pleated skirts” atmosphere is over: the choirs have left the schools and the churches. For example, Marco Avallone, the choir director of the “Envie de chanter” choir, wished “breaking the codes of choirs where everything is too prepared” : he therefore takes his choristers to a bar, once a month. This choir is participatory: customers are indeed invited to sing. “There is an outlet side, a reunion side”rejoices a client of the bar.
