China and the United States, the world’s two largest greenhouse gas emitters, struck a surprise climate deal at the COP26 summit in Glasgow in late 2021. They pledged to work together to accelerate climate action over the next decade and to meet regularly to “Tackling the climate crisis”.
Chinese diplomacy has denounced the “contempt” demonstrated by the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, on her way to Taiwan. China, which considers the Taiwanese archipelago to be part of its territory, began on Thursday the largest military exercises ever organized around the island.
