Off the coast of Taiwan, Chinese military ships and planes continue their operation by encircling the archipelago.
Beijing increases its pressure on Taipei (Taiwan). Off the coast of the archipelago, Chinese military ships and planes continue their operation, encircling Taiwan. China says it wants to test its “military capacity to be able to take power in the autonomous island”. “Since taking office, the leader of the Taiwan region has seriously questioned the one-China principle, which pushes our compatriots in Taiwan into a perilous situation of war and danger”explains Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Defense.
China claims sovereignty over the island and describes its new president as a separatist. Faced with the maneuvers of the Chinese army, Taiwan is not remaining idle. The coast guards monitor the slightest movement of Chinese ships. Armored vehicles parade through the streets and fighter planes take turns in the air. The Taiwanese president calls on China to stop this intimidation. The escalation of tensions between Taipei and Beijing has reached a new milestone for two days. Military operations could be extended.
