Chimpanzees, kings of self-medication, treat themselves with insects!

Very recently, in a zoo in Gabon, scientists witnessed an extraordinary scene: they saw an adult female, named Suzee, treating her teenager, who had injured himself in a fight, with an insect. She caught an insect flying near her, swallowed it and used it to apply it to the kid’s wound.

She did it twice. They then saw other chimpanzees practicing the same treatment on other young people, injured, who let themselves be done, trusting the doctor mothers completely. We have not yet identified the…
