Jean-Michel Fontaine was caught in the fall of 2021 in one of the Sûreté du Québec’s biggest strikes in terms of cyber exploitation of children. The police force then handcuffed 26 individuals in the province, including this English teacher in a high school in Drummondville.

At that point, Fontaine’s IP address had been monitored by police for months. In the space of about three weeks, the professor uploaded around 30 photos of girls “aged between 2 and 8 showing [leurs parties intimes] or having sexual relations with men,” we can read in the agreed summary of facts.

This legal document was filed with the Court when he pleaded guilty to charges of possession and distribution of child pornography at the Drummondville courthouse.

More than 400 files

During the search of his home in 2021, the police found in his computer equipment more than 300 files representing children aged 6 to 15 having sexual relations with adults or with each other. They discovered another hundred animated files showing child pornography.

Fontaine also browsed peer-to-peer networks offering to participate in the sharing of child pornography.

Documents handwritten by the 38-year-old man were also seized which included the following: “Healthy sexuality is my goal and I am capable of it”, “I am sexually – emotionally dependent” , “My need – in a relationship – someone my age”.

He confesses

After his arrest, he made an incriminating statement, admitting to downloading child pornography files and then deleting them.

He also said that what turned him on was “young teenage girls forced to do nothing.”

Fontaine had filed a motion to have his confession to police officers not admissible as evidence at a trial, but it was ultimately rejected by a judge last January. A few weeks later, he decided to put an end to the legal proceedings by pleading guilty.

In addition to being a teacher, Jean-Michel Fontaine was known as a slammer in Drummondville.

Before his arrest, the teacher was also known for his involvement in the musical world, notably organizing slam evenings.

A sexological report was requested in order to decide the sentence that will be imposed on him. His case returns to court next April.
