A four-year-old child was found dead in a swimming pool in Longueuil Friday afternoon, after being reported missing a few hours earlier.
At around 4:30 p.m., officers from the Longueuil Police Department (SPAL) were dispatched to Vimont Street, in a residential area of Longueuil, in relation to a child who had been missing for several hours.
The child was found unconscious in a nearby swimming pool a few minutes after the police arrived, according to SPAL.
The victim was taken to hospital, where his death was formally confirmed. No criminal element was found by the authorities, but an investigation has been declared to elucidate the circumstances of the death.
SPAL claims to have offered its support to the young victim’s relatives.
