To fight against child crime, it is not just the police and gendarmerie services. Portrait of a thirty-year-old who tracks down pedophiles on social networks.

Mask on her face and wig on her head to protect her anonymity, this is how Neila Moore welcomes France 2 teams into her home. She belongs to a collective whose mission is to compromise child criminals on the internet. To do this, the method is simple: it creates fake child profiles on social networks.

In just a few hours, men contact the fake profile, some do not even hide their identity. After a few exchanges, the discussions take on a sexual nature. “I never imagined being surrounded so quickly by so many sexual predators”, she admits.

Increasingly active citizens

His collective, the Moore team, has around fifty volunteers. They report individuals to the gendarmerie or the courts. Last summer, the Charleville-Mézières court (Ardennes) tried a man. His arrest was made possible thanks to the report from the Moore team. The prosecutor ordered an additional investigation by the gendarmes.

Result: hundreds of child pornography images were seized and a predator who admits to having made a sexual proposition to a minor. In recent years, more and more citizens have been tracking down predators on the internet with the risk of it becoming uncontrollable. The Moore team is now demanding official status to clarify its role.
