Who is Black Dog?
Jean Grillet alias Black Dog is an artist in more ways than one. Multi-instrumentalist, his pointillist arrangements of guitar, piano and electronic programming create a universe that is unique to him and that resembles him. Him, the young man damaged by life, he hit rock bottom but was able to find the resources to climb the slope and find his first love: music! It was in Bordeaux that he composed his first EP. If he writes at night, he sings during the day too. Spotted by the naïve label and selected by the Chantier des Francos de La Rochelle, Chien noir traces its path and is not idle. Because hard work is the key to success.

Black Dog chose his nickname in homage to the pirate of Stevenson’s “Treasure Island”, but it is also Cerberus, the guardian of the underworld. Nourished by his reading and his experiences, the artist tells stories. If his songs sometimes look like nursery rhymes for grown-ups, they take you on a journey to those lost paradises of childhood… These melodies and the slender voice of Chien noir won’t let you go.
Well surrounded, Chien noir has worked with Marc Daumail de Cocoon, Vanessa Paradis, Hollysiz. The actress and director Géraldine Nakache even chose her title “True story” to put an advertisement for a famous online sales brand.
