Chiefs 31 – Raiders 13 | The Chiefs ranked first in the AFC

(Las Vegas) Patrick Mahomes set the NFL record for most total yards in a season and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 31-13 on Saturday.

With the win, the Chiefs (14-3) secured first place in the AFC as well as a bye week at the start of the playoffs.

Mahomes had 202 passing yards and 29 rushing yards against the Raiders, which gave him a total of 5,608 yards this season. He surpassed the 5,562 yards record set by Drew Brees in 2011.

The Chiefs, however, are not guaranteed to have home advantage for the entirety of the playoffs.

Due to the cancellation of Monday’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals, the Chiefs could play either team on neutral ground in the All-America Finals.

The Chiefs tied their record for most wins in a season, set in 2020, and they managed a team mark with 17e consecutive game of at least 300 yards of attack.

The Raiders (6-11) ended their first season under Josh McDaniels with a third straight loss. They made the playoffs last year, but they now face a lot of questions at quarterback, on the offensive line and on defense.

Jarrett Stidham started a second game in a row as a replacement for left out Derek Carr and his performance didn’t go as well as last week.

Stidham completed 22 of 36 passes for 219 yards. He threw a touchdown pass and an interception in addition to being the victim of six quarterback sacks. Last week, he had 365 passing yards and threw three touchdowns.

Raiders running back Josh Jacobs, who was struggling with hip and oblique muscle injuries, eventually played even though his presence was in doubt. He had 45 rushing yards and could claim the NFL title in rushing yards (1,653).

Jacobs, however, stopped short of the team record, Marcus Allen’s 1,759 yards in 1985. It could also be Jacobs’ last game with the Raiders because his option was not accepted by the team.
