Chicoutimi: successful rescue of an overdosed man

The intervention of police and paramedics with a young man in medical distress under a bridge in Chicoutimi due to a possible overdose had a happy ending early Tuesday.

The Saguenay Police Department received a call around 3:34 a.m. that an individual had lost consciousness due to a possible opioid overdose.

The 26-year-old man, known to the police department, was with a friend in a makeshift camp under the Nelson Bridge.

Officers managed to get to him and administer the antidote naloxone, although they had doses on hand. He was then handed over to paramedics. The victim was then semi-conscious, according to Lieutenant Stéphane Pellerin.

The individual was taken to hospital, where his condition improved. According to the information transmitted to the police, his life would no longer be in danger.
