Chicoutimi Saguenéens | Yanick Jean becomes the head coach with the most victories in QMJHL history

Yanick Jean set a QMJHL record Friday night with his 590e victory as head coach.

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens beat the Victoriaville Tigres 5-0 to give Jean his 590e victory behind the bench of a team from the Cecchini circuit.

The old mark of 589 winnings belonged to Richard Martel. The latter accumulated his victories from 1993 to 2011.

Jean made his debut in 2002 as an assistant coach with the Saguenéens. He then coached the Prince Edward Island Rocket (former team) and the Tigers.

Jean has been back with the Saguenéens since 2014.

Goalkeeper Raphaël Précourt posted a 34-save shutout on Friday. Forward Maxim Massé had an excellent game with two goals and two assists. Alexis Morin scored two goals and added an assist.
