Chicago Blackhawks | Lukas Reichel signs two-year contract extension

(Chicago) The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to a two-year contract extension with forward Lukas Reichel.

The team announced the news on Tuesday. The contract is valid until the end of the 2025-26 season and will have an annual impact of 1.2 million on the Blackhawks’ payroll.

Reichel, who will celebrate his 22e birthday on May 17, has collected only five goals and 11 assists in 65 games this season. The team hoped to see him flourish, especially alongside sensation Connor Bedard.

Reichel’s development remains an issue for the Blackhawks, who hope to have success in their reconstruction. The team broke a losing record over the winter, compiling a record of 23-53-6.

Reichel will represent Germany at the World Hockey Championship, which will take place this week in the Czech Republic. He was selected by the Blackhawks in the 17the 2020 NHL Draft rankings.

He has 12 goals and 20 assists in 99 career NHL games.
