Cherbourgeois Julien Epaillard wins the Saint-Lô Grand Prix for the third time

It’s a historic victory, moreover at home, for Julien Epaillard. The Cherbourgeois won the CSI 4* Grand Prix of Saint-Lô, the international show jumping competition at the Pôle Hippique, this Sunday, October 23. That’s it third consecutive victory of the weekend and especially the third year in a row that the rider has won the Grand Prix.

Three French on the podium

After a faultless qualification, Julien Epaillard and his mare Caracole de la Roque became one of the seven play-offs in the final, out of the 50 rider/horse pairs entered. In the shoot-off, they managed to make the best time without any penaltywith a passage in 33.55 seconds.

The Cherbourgeois is ahead of two other Frenchmen, Maëlle Martin and Nicolas Layec, who is taking part in his first CSI 4*. “I always want to do well at Saint-Lô, in front of my fans and my family. I’m very happy, it’s been working for three years in a row and I hope it will last”rejoices Julien Epaillard, who signs his 16th Grand Prix victory of the season.
