A new milestone in his career. On the eve of the closing of the transfer market, Wednesday August 31, the Blues announced the recruitment of Frenchman Wesley Fofana after reaching an agreement with Leicester City. The player has signed up for the next seven seasons.

Trained at AS Saint-Etienne, Fofana had left the Loire in the summer of 2020 to discover the Premier League on the side of Leicester. After a successful first season, the international hopeful then experienced a long period of unavailability due to a fractured left fibula.

If the amount of the operation has not yet been revealed, the British press evokes a sum of 70 million pounds (82 million euros), which would constitute a record for a French defender. “Wesley is a very promising defender who has already proven his qualities in the Premier League at a young age”commented the club’s new owner Todd Boehly in a press release.

At Chelsea, he could be associated in central defense with the Senegalese Kalidou Koulibaly, also bought this summer by the English, and the former captain of PSG Thiago Silva.
