Two people were found dead in a residence in Beaumont, and a third was taken to hospital “as a precaution,” said the Sûreté du Québec.
Shortly before 6 p.m. on Thursday evening, emergency services were called to assist the fire department at a residence located on Route du Fleuve, in the municipality of Beaumont, in Chaudière-Appalaches.
Two people were reportedly found dead in the residence: a man in his forties and a teenage girl. Their deaths were confirmed on the spot. According to information gathered by The Sunit’s about a father and his daughter.
A third person was taken to hospital as a precaution. “We do not fear for his life,” said Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Investigators, accompanied by technicians from the Judicial Identification Service, were assigned to the case to analyze the scene and try to shed light on the causes and circumstances of this event. The scene was still protected late Thursday evening, in order to preserve evidence.
Several media outlets are reporting carbon monoxide poisoning, but this information has not been confirmed by the SQ. “The investigation is still ongoing to determine the causes and circumstances of the event,” said Ève Brochu-Joubert.
