According to information from the Sûreté du Québec, it could be Frédérik Gagné, the thirty-year-old who disappeared a few days before last Christmas in Thetford Mines. Two people had been arrested for murder in the case.

“It is not excluded that it is him, but it will be the autopsy and the expertise of the laboratory which will make it possible to formally identify the individual found”, specifies Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec .

The police of the MRC des Appalaches were called Sunday afternoon, around 4:45 p.m., for a body discovered in a wooded area of ​​Adstock, a small town in Chaudière-Appalaches located about twenty kilometers from Thetford Mines.

“It’s a death that is not recent and it could be a man,” adds Stéphane Tremblay.

An inquest has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. The body was transported to Montreal for an autopsy and forensic examination.

Murder investigation

On December 19, relatives of Frédérik Gagné, 32, reported his disappearance to the authorities. The next day, a notice was sent to the media.

The file was then already overseen by the Investigations Service on crimes against the person of the Sûreté du Québec. It was suspected that a criminal act had been committed, reported a newspaper article The sun.

On December 23, Vincent Dumas and Vicky Fournier-Labonville, both in their early twenties, were arrested for the murder of the thirties, before appearing by videoconference.

The body of Mr. Gagné had not been found by the police. Ground searches were suspended on December 24.
