The Sûreté du Québec was notified around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The event occurred in the area of Lambert Avenue, a road that runs along the Chaudière River, in Beauceville.
According to information from local radio Cool FM, a driver was in a van. He was driving on the 156and street, perpendicular to Lambert Avenue. Arrived at the intersection, he would have crossed Lambert Avenue to end up in the river. With the water being high at this time of year, the vehicle would have been completely submerged. At the time these lines were written, the Sûreté du Québec had not confirmed these facts to The Press.
Police, firefighters and a team of divers were dispatched to the scene to try to find the van. Members of the driver’s family also went to the scene to speak with the police, according to Cool FM. The operation is still ongoing, says Hélène Saint-Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
