A woman who was walking along the St. Lawrence River in Beaumont, in Chaudière-Appalaches, had a big surprise on Saturday when she came across the frozen remains of a man, washed up on the bank.
With the exception of the fact that it is a male individual, the identity of the body is not known, explained in the evening Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec. Forensic identification services have moved to the scene and additional analyzes will be necessary to achieve this, she stressed.
It was around 5 p.m. that a passerby who was walking on the shore of the St. Lawrence River in Beaumont made the macabre discovery.
She contacted the emergency services, which were dispatched to the scene. The body of the man was found on the rocks of the strike, specifies Mme Dorsainville.
The causes leading to the death are also not known, she added. Proceedings are continuing to better understand the circumstances of the death.
