Chaudière-Appalaches | 4-year-old dies in ATV accident

(Ireland) A four-year-old child was killed in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

The accident occurred around 7.50 p.m. Friday on private land in the small municipality of Ireland, which has nearly 900 inhabitants, near Thetford Mines.

“The ATV was driven by a man. The child was a passenger. For a reason that is still unknown, the ATV overturned and it was at this time that the child was injured, ”said Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

When help arrived, resuscitation maneuvers were performed on the child. He was in critical condition when transported to hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries overnight.

“We have a reconstitutionist from the Sûreté du Québec and an investigator who analyzed the scene. It ended around 5:30 am this morning, ”said Sergeant Dorsainville.

The SQ investigation continues.
