In Indre, 25,000 people are deprived of drinking water on Saturday June 18. In Châteauroux, the water is contaminated by the bacteria Escherichia Coli. Even boiled, it is not drinkable so the most vulnerable were contacted by the services of the town hall which, since yesterday, distribute bottles of water.

Since Saturday, June 18 in the morning, the distribution of water packs has not stopped. The town of Chateauroux (Indre) has been deprived of drinking water since Friday evening, June 17. This concerns half of the inhabitants, i.e. 25,000 people, in the midst of a heat wave. The bacterium Escherichia Parcel has been detected in the water distribution system. A resident is not worried and says that it will work out. Another fears for his dog, who drinks a lot of water. Several water distribution points have been opened in the city and families will be able to come and get some tomorrow.

At the origin of the problem, a malfunction in the water treatment system, explain the authorities. In a household, bottled water is even used to wash vegetables. The municipal backup plan was activated yesterday. City hall services will visit vulnerable people. The City has prohibited the consumption of water to the inhabitants concerned until Sunday, June 19, 6 p.m.
