Cuvée Julien is mainly made from Merlot: a grape variety that has done very well in this hot vintage. Earlier than Cabernet Sauvignon, it was harvested before the cold and rain in mid-September.
The nose is charming: marked by aging (toasted notes, cocoa and vanilla), it is also very fruity with aromas of raspberry cream and cherry.
The palate is suave, balanced by fresh acidity and fine but still firm tannins. Notes of tobacco and cedar add complexity.
To be enjoyed with lamb shank with lentils, braised beef with anise.
