Château Le Puy Bordeaux, Amoreau family, winegrowers since 1610

On 100ha of land, 54ha are devoted to production and 46ha dedicated to the Le Puy ecosystem: a compromise between wild areas (forests, ponds, orchards, meadows, etc.) and vines. This biological diversity makes it possible to create a haven of life around the plots of vines, promoting a symbiosis between the vine, man and his environment.

Dada sommelier: The first known ancestors of the Amoreau family living at the estate date back to 1610 (15th generation today). At the time, growing vines was one of the family’s activities. Thus, among the ancestors, there are a blacksmith, a weaver or even a cooper. Originally Le Puy wines were recognized as the “wine doctors” of the Saint-Emilion vineyard.

Today, the Amoreau family has distinguished itself as a pioneer in so-called organic and Biody cultivation. Now, with unchanging passion and commitment, she registers her estate in permaculture and thus continues to produce naturally authentic wines. The vines, with an average age of 50 years, are rooted in an asteria limestone and red clay soil. The different varieties of grapes used by the estate: 85% merlot, 7% cabernet sauvignon, 6% cabernet franc, 1% malbec, 1% carménère for the red cuvées and 100% sémillon for the white cuvée. The estate’s cuvées: Emilien, Barthélémy, Retour des îles, Blaise-Albert, Marie-Elisa, Rose-Marie.
