Château du Grand Caumont Cuvée Tradition | Affordable: very good for the price

In the south of Languedoc, just before Roussillon, the Corbières region has long been a source of good wines at low prices.

There is Grenache and Syrah, as elsewhere in Languedoc, but also a lot of Carignan, a grape variety that can give wines that are a little rustic, even wild, but also with a lot of character.

In this cuvée, Château du Grand Caumont Cuvée Tradition Corbières 2019, we find it more or less in equal parts with Syrah, supplemented with Grenache.

The nose, simple, opens with notes of black fruits, earth and leather. Dry and rather light, it offers a mouth with the same flavors, barely tannic, with a certain suppleness.

Not very complex, but at this price it is frankly not bad at all. It will accompany a tourtière, veal livers, a mushroom risotto or quite simply a good homemade hamburger.

Château du Grand Caumont Cuvée Tradition Corbières 2019, $13.95 (316620), 13.5%
