Château Combel-La-Serre Cahors 2018 | Discovery: matter, but not heaviness!

Cahors: not really a discovery, you might say. But this region today is very different from that of 30 years ago and deserves to be revisited.

Its famous black wines, impenetrable, with very strong oak, have given way to much finer wines, which best express this singular terroir.

This cuvée from the excellent Château Combel-la-Serre smells of Cahors: its nose is dark, with notes of black fruits, black earth and dried flowers.

The mouth offers a rich and fruity substance, complex flavors and firm tannins, but with a lot of freshness, radiance and vitality.

The perfect symbiosis between the Malbec grape variety and the clay-limestone soils of the Causse, the high-altitude terroirs of the region. To be enjoyed with a cassoulet, a confit or a duck breast.

Château Combel-La-Serre Cahors 2018, $23.65 (13090762), 12.5%, organic
