Charlotte Gainsbourg, on view tonight in the film Samba broadcast on France 2, has been the partner of actor Yvan Attal since 1991. Together, they had three children: Ben (born in 1997), Alice (born in 2002) and Jo (born in 2011). But before finding her prince charming, the daughter of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin lived her first love story with “a much older man” than her, when she was only 14 years old.
A guarded idyll “secret” that the 51-year-old artist was kind enough to reveal to the musician Danger Mouse, on behalf of the magazine Interviewin 2016.“Everything was secret, including for my parents”, she had explained, while specifying that she will have remained “five years“with this man, from her 14 to 19 years old, the age at which she lost her dad in 1991.
A beneficial birth
A period which also coincides with his meeting with Yvan Attal, his current lover. “We’ve been together since I was 19. I think I met him a month before my father died. He was so patient because I was a wreck. I cried every day”she had claimed, declaring then that she clung to the members of her family in order not to sink after the tragic disappearance of her father.
The arrival of her first child, her son Ben, when she was 25, also helped her grieve and move on. “Yvan told me at that time that before, I only looked at death, and that with this birth, I had allowed myself to look at life”, she confided.
In parallel with her love life, Charlotte Gainsbourg is obviously a great actress, who needs no introduction. La Bûche, Lend me your hand, Three hearts… She played in many films, and received many awards, such as the César for best female hope in 1996 for her role in cheeky, or even the prize for female interpretation at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival for her role in Antichrist by Dane Lars von Trier.
