Charleston Tournament | The semi-final between Belinda Bencic and Jessica Pegula stopped by the rain

(Los Angeles) The semi-final of the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston (clay) between Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic, world No.11 and defending champion, and the American Jessica Pegula (3e), seeded No. 1, was interrupted by rain on Saturday and will continue on Sunday at 11 a.m. local time.

Bencic won the first set 7-5, but Pegula led 4-2 in the second set tiebreaker before the game was suspended around 8 p.m. (11 p.m. Eastern) local time.

The winner of the match will find Ons Jabeur (5e), finalist last season, precisely against Bencic.

The Tunisian beat the Russian Daria Kasatkina (8e), 7-5, 7-5, taking advantage of an interruption due to rain, to line up five games in a row and win the first set, when it was down 5-2.

Jabeur, a finalist at Wimbledon and the US Open last year, qualified for her first final of the season and her eleventh on the WTA Tour. She will try to win her fourth title.
